Honduras

High rates of poverty

Honduras suffers from high rates of poverty, with 60% of the population living on less than $3.20 per day. This has been compounded by recent natural disasters, namely Hurricanes Eta and Iota. Deforestation has reduced water retention in the soil, worsening the flooding caused by these hurricanes. In rural areas, only 44% of the water is up to health standards due to absence of water quality control, and is set to get worse.

Give to the World partnered with Motorrad angels, whose Honduras chapter provided citizens of Honduras with clean water filters. The Honduras clean water filter project provided over 10,000 villagers with clean water.

Impact of your Generosity

To combat this, Give to the World worked with Motorrad Angels to deliver clean water filtration systems, distribute food, medical, and dental supplies to vulnerable communities in Venezuela, Colombia and Honduras. By supporting these communities, Give to the World hopes to alleviate some of the pressure felt by the refugees whilst reducing the influence of armed groups. A ‘work forward’ program also addressed the loss of livelihoods by setting up single mothers with a coffee cart, and therefore, a sustainable income source. Since 2019, our work with Motorrad Angels impacted 47,004 people.
