A true story from Iraq: A young husband and wife trying to support and protect two 11 month old boys, each of whom was suffering from dysentery and had only a single t-shirt to wear on their small frames. With only a single cow to produce for them and a harsh winter of numerous 20 degree nights ahead of them, the family was clearly in desperate need of assistance. Through donations from Give to the World, the Iraqi family receives multiple blankets, clothes and medicine. The man and woman are overjoyed by the assistance and credit the donations with saving the living of their children. A true story from Afghanistan: One of the small huts contained just a single room with two men, a wife and four small children. Temperatures in the winter were routinely below zero and the earth in their area had been wiped free of trees during the Soviet occupation. The family was only able to generate a small warming and cooking fire from the dug-up roots that remained. One of the men had lost a leg from a land-mine in the 1980’s and was unable to provide for the family, while his brother walked fifteen miles a day with their handful of goats in order to find enough grass to feed the tiny flock. Give to the World brought them a large supply of food, water, blankets and clothes to assist their lives. The excess material from the clothing and blankets could now be used as windows to cover the openings in the side of their hut. The young boys and girls were brought school supplies and stuffed animals. The family was so overwhelmed that a tear ran down the face of the men, whose rugged faces had been weathered by years of hardship. The boys and girls smiled from ear to ear. Give to the World provided the supplies to make this possible. We just need your donation to help get these items to more people in these desperate conditions.
There are 240 children at this orphanage between the ages of 4 and 14. 60 of them are girls.
The children of this Afghani orphanage have received hundreds of pounds of clothes from Give to the World.
